Pamala McKay, the executive director of God’s Unchanging Hands Feeding Ministry, a local 501(3)(c), has partnered with Hosanna Lutheran Church of Mandeville to deliver 500 hot meals a week on the Northshore to people who are food-insecure, including the homeless. Just Love has been involved by inviting people to help to prepare, package and deliver the meals. Some participants bake desserts weekly. Some donate groceries for the children. Others come just to meet the people we serve.
Delivering the meals presented us with a new opportunity to build relationships with people who have a plethora of other needs. We have donated a stove, a wheelchair, and gift cards. As we are delivering the plates we sometimes take out trash and change light bulbs. Most importantly, we are meeting people were they are to remind them that they are loved.
If you are interested in helping, volunteers are needed to help prepare meals and/or to take a delivery route. In response to Hurricane Laura, volunteers are currently needed as we are making sandwiches to deliver to hurricane victims in Southwest Louisiana.
