During the pandemic, participants in the Just Love Movement have been working with Hosanna Lutheran Church and God’s Unchanging Hands Feeding Ministry in Mandeville to deliver meals to food-insecure households on the Northshore. Other participants bake desserts, purchase groceries or donate items to be delivered. Making the deliveries each week gives us an opportunity to build relationships with our neighbors who are food-insecure while assessing other needs they may have. Several service projects are currently being planned as we are the grateful recipients of a grant to provide critical home repairs to raise homes out of substandard conditions.
We are excited to announce a new partnership with the Northshore Food Bank to identify our neighbors in St. Tammany and Washington Parishes who meet the requirements to receive boxes of groceries each month but are unable to drive to the Food Bank. They may be unable to drive due to illness, age or lack of transportation, or they may be working during the Northshore Food Bank distribution hours. Once these neighbors are identified, Just Love participants will deliver the boxes of groceries which will enable us to build more relationships and assess more needs.
If you know of someone who may qualify to receive groceries from the Northshore Food Bank, please email Jarrett@JustLoveYourNeighbor.org
